A selection of articles written by Magie Relph
I've had numerous articles published patchwork and textile magazines. Here's a brief sample of just a few.

Fond Memories
I've been working recently on the concept of "memory quilts" using the computer to scan and print images that capture fond memories. This article explores the process, illustrated by two of my quilts - Happy Days and Reflections On A Distant Scene. Popular Patchwork, September 2004.

Kente Cloth
Kente is the majestic woven cloth of West African chiefs. I just love it and I've used it as a design inspiration for two quilts called Kente and Adwinasa - All Motifs Are Used Up. This article explores the Kente tradition and its influence today.
Popular Patchwork, June 2004.

Mellow Yellow
I created this vibrant but easy-to-make cushion project inspired by a field of sunflowers I encountered whilst driving across Canada. The project combines Appliqué and Trapunto - a technique I call Trappliqué!

Adire - The West African Art of Resist Dyeing
Creating your own resist dyed fabrics using a variety of techniques from West Africa is easier than you think using my step-by-step guide.
Fabrications, January 2002.

The Incredible Journey
I researched the story of the Three Cats fabric or "Manchester Blue", which I sell in the African Fabric Shop. I wrote about this fascinating fabric in the March 2002 issue of Popular Patchwork magazine. There's also a fun cushion project for you to do!

Also, my patchwork designs, wallhangings and quilts were the subject of articles in Ontario Craft and Canadian Living magazines in 1991.
