Hand-stitched hangings by the Tent Makers of Cairo
When ever we are in Cairo we spend most of our time in the Street of The Tent Makers, just sitting, observing, chatting with our friends and drinking endless glasses of tea. Their appliqués are truly amazing, showing wonderful combinations of colour and superb stitching.
Each appliqué is a unique creation. Sizes vary, typically 70 x 70 cm / 28 x 28 in; 90 x 90 cm / 35 x 35 in; plus some longer pieces that are perfect as table runners. All square pieces have zippered backs and can be used a cushion covers. Egyptian cotton.
