The women of Sirigu - a small village in northern Ghana - paint their mud brick houses with geometric designs, animals and birds. They paint the same designs on their handmade pottery.
We love this small painting of a guinea fowl in the Sirigu style. We think the paint is acrylic. The base cloth is handwoven cotton strip cloth, typical of the region. The artist's name - Beatrice - is painted on the back.
