COVID-19 info

How are we dealing with COVID-19?

We're taking the COVID-19 coronavirus seriously. On this page we'll keep you informed about what we're doing in our small business to cope with coronavirus.

COVID-19 precautions

  • The shop is currently not open for the public to visit. This is so that we can maintain a hygenic atmoshpere for handling our website orders.
  • We'll let subscribers to our e-Newsletter know when we re-open to the public.
  • Online shopping remains open. Postal and courier services for domestic and international orders are operating normally.
  • Physical distancing: Like you, we're getting used to a whole new way of doing things. It's not fun, but it's necessary. Magie and Bob live together, so we can come to the shop together. Jenny comes to the shop on different days than Magie and Bob.
  • Hygiene: In the shop when we are packing orders, we are washing hands and cleaning equipment and surfaces regularly and often.

Is it safe to receive parcels by post or courier?

We wondered that too. This is what WHO says:

  • ' Yes. The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low. '

Online shopping OPEN as usual

We'll be in the shop picking and packing your orders as efficiently as usual. Likewise, responding to your emails, telephone calls and messages.

Staying connected

Few of us have ever experienced anything like the uncertainty, anxiety and - let's be honest: genuine fear - we are feeling as we try to cope with this  pandemic.

Like you, our diary is suddenly clear: events, shows, talks, workshops - all cancelled or postponed indefinitely.

To stay connected with you, we'll be doing our best to use our website and various social media platforms as much as we can to communicate.

We think 'staying connected' is important right now for many reasons.

  • For those who are isolated - both physically and emotionally - a renewed sense of community can help a lot.
  • Our small, fair trade business needs sales to survive.
  • Our suppliers - small scale artisan makers in Africa - need our business, now more than ever.

With that in mind...

Stay safe and help others

Finally, please take all necessary precautions to protect yourselves and the world's communities.
