Are Magie Relph and The African Fabric Shop coming to an event near you?

You'll find The African Fabric Shop at textile shows and exhibitions around the UK and occasionally in Europe.

Also, along with a group of friends, we organise a series of free events called World Textile Day at various venues around the UK.

And, Magie always brings along a selection of fabrics, beads and baskets when ever she travels to a textile group for a talk.

FAIR TRADE MARKET from makers, workshops and villages around the world

Activities:

  • 11 am PRESENTATION by GUEST SPEAKER Jennifer Hughes - textile collector, teacher, embroiderer, weaver and dyer. 'Ikats of the Orient'.
  • 2 pm SHORT TALK by Jim Gaffney - Asian textile expert, collector and trader. 'Freedom of Movement for Textiles'. Plus TEXTILE WEAR & TELL - you're invited to wear and discuss your own world textile garment.
  • £3 per morning or afternoon session. Or £5 for both. Tickets at the door.
  • Delicious refreshments all day.

Oklah needs bottles

Our friend Oklah Tetteh in Koforidua, Ghana makes all of our bottle glass beads from old bottles. Some colours are hard for him to make because the bottles are scarce. These are the really valuable ones:

  • Gin - Bombay Sapphire, Plymouth and Blooms
  • Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry
  • Old Vines in Young Hands - Portuguese white wine
